Achievement Unlocked! Posted on June 20, 2014 by Nate.
A new addiction of mine is my infant son’s milestone achievements. It’s almost like in gaming, receiving that notification during an epic battle or an insane trick, “Achievement Unlocked!”. The wifey was out of the house at a business meeting. I got to be the camera man, patiently waiting for the most awesome barrel roll ever! I spammed the hell out of friends and family, for 20 min straight, on Snapchat. Kade was getting closer and closer to the point of where his weight takes him the rest of the way. The kid is only 3 months old, but I didn’t care. “We’re not leaving this floor until you rollover little dude!” I probably sent like 40-50 snapchats until one of the coolest things happened, HE ROLLED OVER! Look, I know it doesn’t sound amazing, but at this stage, this seems HUGE! Him kicking with one leg, grunting and waving his free arm frantically in the air. Some how all the worlds aligned and he completed the roll. Finished it off with a huge smile. He knew he had just did something great. Maybe it was my coaching that helped him through it? Maybe the nonstop “You can do it!” chanting heard throughout the house, fueling his ambition to complete it? Not too sure, but I was glad I was able to share it. Now, lets just go ahead and start working on walking, shall we?
It really puts you in place when you are hitting milestones in your child’s life. All this stuff we do daily without even thinking twice about it. Being able to walk, talk, snap, whistle. There’s so much ahead right now and each one is more exciting than the last.
