SO, YOU THINK YOU’RE A GAMER?! Posted on May 14, 2014 by Nate.
I confess, I love gaming. I have made many friends all over the world through this time passer. I even met my wife via gaming. Psst! She was awesome by the way. Emphasis on the WAS. My daily routine, pre Kade, has always been concluded by around three hours of late night gaming. To me, it’s “ME TIME”. In my office, closed door, headset on, and the latest game stretched across my screen. Typically, this was from the time my wife went to bed, until the time I felt I’d still make it to work the next day. Post Kade? Hahah yeah riiiiiight! I THOUGHT I was a gamer. I went from being involved in a game, to just watching people game. Thank goodness for Twitch.tv. Twitch allows me to live vicariously through a real gamer as they play the games I used to play. Headset half on, half off, allowing me to attend to the diaper calls, hungry screeches, and uncomfortable mumbles. I’m slowly starting to see gaps where Kade is deep into sleep and I can get a couple of rounds of my favorite game of the month in. The only thing this has done for me is add fire to the yearning of gaming with my son. One of my favorite streamers is a dad/son combo, called Father Son Gaming. You can tell this is their bonding time. This is the fun they have together, and I want that! Now, I only have what? 7 years until this becomes a reality? Worth it! Until then, I’ll be on the bench taking care of my Junior Gamer.
